This year, The Lab at Castle Rock Microwave HQ has been a hub for education, collaboration, and innovation! Here are some key events hosted in 2024:

• PCTel Certification on iBflex: Partnering with PCTel, we certified our team and customers on iBflex test equipment, enhancing technical expertise across the board.
• 2nd Annual Tech Lunch: Industry experts shared insights on tower compliance, enforcement trends, spectrum deployment, and interference management during this engaging Q&A.
• PCTel SeeHawk Deployment: We supported Douglas County’s rollout of PCTEL’s SeeHawk™ Monitor system with a 2-day training for radio technicians, preparing them for enhanced public safety network monitoring.
• R56 Training and Networking: Our Lab hosted training sessions and networking events on topics like tower grounding standards and OT security, fostering industry collaboration.
• Safeguarding OT Networks: Cybersecurity professionals led a session on protecting OT networks against emerging threats, providing actionable solutions for participants.
• Fixed Wireless for Tribal Communities: Leaders in connectivity solutions discussed strategies for bridging the digital divide, offering invaluable insights to in-person and virtual attendees.

Key Update for Public Safety Communications

The FCC’s new 4.9 GHz spectrum sharing with the FirstNet Authority aims to enhance public safety communications by allowing better network management and flexibility.

While this change is intended to support stronger, more resilient networks for first responders, it also changes how organizations like electrical utilities, water utilities, and other public safety groups use & access the spectrum.

The FCC policy places a central coordinating organization where there was none before.
