In the Lab: Keeping Communications Connected Through Network Failover

Utilities and public safety agencies cannot afford to lose contact with field teams when primary networks go down.

During our recent Lunch & Learn, we partnered with Aviat Networks and Zetron to demonstrate how multiple technologies can work together to maintain communications during critical operations.

Aviat Networks provided secure LTE and microwave transport, while Zetron’s Stratus™ and Pathway+ extended field radio coverage and supported a unified operational view. Castle Rock Microwave designed the demonstration architecture and coordinated the integration with the local communications systems.

Attendees left with practical considerations for wireless backhaul, cellular routing, satellite failover, SCADA communications, and operational continuity planning.

One Team for a Mission-Ready Tower

Expanding a microwave network requires more than installing a tower.

Construction, communications equipment, primary and backup power, security, and remote monitoring must all function as one reliable system.

For a recent microwave ring expansion, Castle Rock Microwave served as both the general contractor and communications integrator, managing the work from greenfield site development through tower construction, equipment and power installation, and final commissioning.

With the full scope coordinated by one team, the customer benefited from fewer contractor handoffs, clearer accountability, and a fully operational tower site built to strengthen first-responder communications.

Join Us at Mountain Connect

Castle Rock Microwave will join industry and community leaders at Mountain Connect on August 12 for the panel, Critical Infrastructure in the Connected Age: Cybersecurity, Power, and Network Resilience.

The discussion will examine how broadband networks, electric grids, public safety systems, schools, and municipal IT infrastructure can prepare for cyber threats, power disruptions, and operational risks.

Panelists will share practical approaches to strengthening security and resilience across increasingly connected community networks.

We hope to see you there.
